Presentation title: Landscaping for Wildfire Mitigation

No matter where you live in southwest Colorado, you are living with wildfire risk. Though we might not be able to prevent fire from occurring in our region, we absolutely can change the level of risk that wildfire poses to our homes and lives. By proactively managing vegetation around the home, landscaping with wildfire in mind, we can take the first step on the path towards fire adaptation, a crucial step to take in the midst of a changing climate.

La Plata County Coordinator, Wildfire Adapted Partnership

Alex joined WAP as the Montezuma County Coordinator in April of 2019 and moved to La Plata County Coordinator in June 2022. He grew up in the foothills of the Catskill mountains in New York State and attended college in the Hudson Valley where he graduated with a BA in Environmental and Urban Studies.

Alex has called Durango home since 2017 and has developed a love for the deserts, mountains and rivers of Southwest Colorado. He is focused on community preparedness and scaling wildfire adaptation to match the risk level we take on when living in fire-prone/adapted places. He is also an avid flatpicking bluegrass musician.
